Dr Kate Pryde is a Consultant Paediatrician at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) and recently appointed as the trust’s clinical lead for Quality Improvement.  Kate is also Health Education Wessex’s lead for Quality Improvement in Children and a member of the founding cohort of Health Foundation ‘Q’’s. 

Her skills, dedication and infectious enthusiasm have led to her involvement in a wide range of successful initiatives to improve quality and safety in healthcare - from small, targeted improvements through to large-scale system change across organisations. 

Kate is committed to improving patient care empowering staff to make the change they want to see. She believes this can be most successfully done through adopting a positive deviance approach, recognising excellence and learning from it.  She is passionate about developing safer systems particularly through education, including simulation, and involving patients and their families in providing the safest care.
